The Cliff - St James

The Cliff offers a glorious ocean front cliff top setting and worldwide reputation. Chef Paul Owen has won many accolades. A new spacious drinks lounge just opened. Try to get a table on the terrace with views out over the water. A family of stingrays circled the inlet when we ate there. Reservation required. 432 1922

Daphne's - Paynes Bay

The sister to Daphne's of Chelsea, London and is a favourite. Teak furniture and textiles from Bali enhance the lovely beachfront setting Payne’s Bay. Daphne’s offers wonderful, modern, Italian food, attentive staff and excellent wine. 432 5161 or 429 0599

The Fishpot - St Peter

The Fishpot is only 5 minutes away with a relaxed, uncomplicated yet chic atmosphere. This unusual restaurant set in a small 17th century fort at the water’s edge is airy and informal. Chef Stephen Belgrave uses only the freshest ingredients and pumps up the flavour with local seasoning. With the fish market a 10 min drive away the entrees offer tempting dishes fresh from the sea offering a gourmet dining experience in delightful surroundings. Lemongrass Noodle Bar & Grill - The Lime Grove

Situated within The Limegrove Lifestyle centre, this Noodle Bar serves South-East Asian inspired dishes for lunch and dinner. All ingredients are bought daily and the menu changes depending on the availability of fresh ingredients. 271 8265

Mangos by the Sea - Speightstown

This award winning restaurant offers great service and imaginative dishes. It is set amongst bamboo trees and hanging palm leaves with tables overlooking the sea. 420 0704

The Mews - Holetown

The Mews offers excellent international and European dishes which are all freshly prepared and are served in an enchanting setting, which includes a courtyard, private dining areas and exquisite balconies. After hours the cosy bar becomes a bustling after dinner rendezvous and drinking spot.

Champers - Skeetes Hill, Christchurch

Definitely worth the drive to the South coast. Champers offers waterside dining with a vibrant Caribbean design and serves fantastic Caribbean lobster and shrimp dishes. Sandy Lane - St James

Sandy Lane has a worldwide reputation, especially if you have read Michael Winner's articles. With a sumptuous Sunday lunch which is not overly expensive it makes for a memorable occasion. Wine can be expensive!
